In order for humans and all living things to survive, they need to pay attention to their health and nutrition. Nutrition is a process that starts in the womb and should be given importance throughout life from the moment the baby is born. The process continues first with breast milk, then with supplementary foods, and continues with the child eating adequate amounts of various foods at home, at school and in different places.

The feeding process, which is first supported by adults, is a self-care process that the child can achieve on his/her own once he/she has the ability to hold a spoon and fork. From infancy onwards, children should be given foods that they can chew and swallow easily.

The food pyramid is universal and tells us how much of each food group should be consumed. From an early age, children should be given the opportunity to try different flavors and foods that are adequate and appropriate for their developmental level.

In particular, children should be encouraged to consume less or no pre-packaged foods, and they should be made aware of the risk of gaining weight and deteriorating health. Instead of consuming excess carbohydrates and fatty foods, fresh vegetables and fruits should be emphasized.

Meals are important in early childhood. It is important to consume breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks on time and in sufficient amounts. All food groups should be included in meals. Vegetables and fruits should be consumed in season. Children should have frequent conversations about healthy and unhealthy foods.

Attention should be paid to food spoilage times, packaging, storage solutions and food should be consumed on time, paying attention to the expiration date.

Some foods can be eaten raw and some can be cooked. Cooking times and cooking methods are important for cooked foods.

Food storage methods are also important. Storage times in plastic containers, metal containers or glass containers may vary, but it is inevitable that foods in glass containers are healthier.

Foods that need to be stored in the refrigerator are placed in different sections in the fridge. Foods that need to be stored for a long time should be placed in the freezer section.

Vitamins in food are also essential for our body. Different vitamins are taken from each food.

Washing and cleaning food is also very important. Fresh fruits and vegetables should not be eaten without washing. It is very important to drink plenty of water. Water is vital.

Eat enough food and avoid wasting it. As much food as can be eaten should be placed on the plate.

The child can be asked to help with nutrition through various practices. Nutrition is not only a fun activity for the child, but it will also be more enjoyable to consume the food as it is their own labor. For example, salads, cakes, yogurt, bread, pickles can be made together with children.

It should not be forgotten that nutritional habits acquired at an early age will be effective throughout life.
